A beautiful day
My Saggitarius horoscope seemed fairly insightful today. It said that I should make the time to take notice of the present (as in present moment)... something I've been striving to do more lately. I must admit though, I do appreciate a reminder. Today's horoscope was just that.
I know I wrote an earlier post about the perfect day, but I think I experienced a good portion of it today...
I got to sleep in... (I can't begin to say how good that felt...)
Once I did get up, I remembered that there is Farmer's Market not far from my new home. (How cool is that?) I decided to check it out... The fruits, vegetables, and flowers were lovely. Around the corner a lady was selling Afghani flat bread (I didn't get any this time but will certainly try it next time.) Another stall had buffalo meat and organic eggs... I was in heaven!
Since I would be going to a picnic later, I decided to get items that I could take with me. I ended up with sweet corn (I haven't had much this season), sun-dried tomato goat cheese (for a fresh tomato and cheese salad), a homemade carrot cake with thick cream-cheese icing, and a peach empanada (sold at the same place...)
As I sat on my deck enjoying the crisp August morning, sipping chai tea and munching my empanada, I felt at peace. I knew it was another one of those perfect moments that I usually totally disregard or want to fill with meaningless thoughts and chatter. And this time, well, this time I was able to and recognize and feel it... What a blessing.
After I had demolished my empanda, my dear friend showed up at my house... sort of like magic. (How cool is that?)
And then, on my way to the picnic, I talked to my brother on the phone. (I know, I know... So what?) Well, my brother and I don't just pick up the phone and chat with one another... We just never have. And he actually called me to do just that. He wanted to see how I was doing in my new house and what was going on in my life... We had a good visit. (Wow!)
So on to the the picnic...
I'll remember the picnic on a whole lot of levels... First, so many of my dear friends (old and new) were there (always a plus.) Let's see, I played volleyball again (I LOVE volleyball) and I tried to connect and be present with everyone I talked to... (not easy and I wasn't 100%, but better than I usually am...) I'll also be remembering the picnic through the myriad of aches and pains I will be feeling throughout I'm guessing... oh, the next week or so. I did mention I played volleyball, right? (I seemed to spend more time on the ground than upright... and sadly, even when I WASN'T playing volleyball, I struggled to remain upright! What a klutz!)
The picnic really was a lot of fun with great food and fellowship all around.
The drive home was even nice...
When I got home, a nap beckoned, but instead, I watched the movie "Stranger than Fiction". It was about a man who thinks he's going crazy when he starts hearing a woman author narrating his life. (I could relate to the voices in my head idea, that's for sure...) He later learns the author wants to kill him (his character in the story.)
It's kind of quirky and weird, but full of deep meaning about what we would do or not do differently if we knew when we were going to die... If you like that kind of movie, it's well worth checking out. Will Farrell and Emma Thompson are in it... oh, and Maggie Gyllenhall, who is just adorable. It's not a comedy though, so if you are expecting the usual big laugh stuff from Will Farrell, better rent something else.
Now I'm waiting to see what the evening holds in store. I have some plans, but nothing really definite. That's the way I like it.
It's been a really, really great day and I am full of gratitude for it.
I loved Stranger Than Fiction! It was truly wonderful and although Will wasn't his wierd over the top self I found him strangely endearing (except for the IRS auditor stuff which I'll admit I'm in NO hurry to ever experience!) I'm glad you're loving your new home.....I stalked by the other day and checked it out! Beautiful!!
